Awarded on the World Milk Day Allola Divya Reddy, Founder of Klimom, has been awarded the prestigious Gopal Ratna 2018 Award from the Government of India for her extraordinary work in the field of rearing indigenous Gir cows and following the best management practices to improve their milk production. The award was presented to Allola Divya Reddy by the Minister of Agriculture, Shri Radha Mohan Singh at a function held on June 1st at National Agricultural Science Complex, New Delhi.
There is a stringent process of nomination for the award. The State Govt. officers physically verify the applications and then send them to the State Committee, which evaluates three recommendations submitted by the Domestic Violence Orders (DVOs) of the State. The State Committee then forwards the best name for the national award. Then the National Committee from New Delhi comes to physically inspect the selected farms in all the states and picks up the best farms, from north and south zone of India.
Multiple Parameters for Winning the Award
There are several parameters for determining the winner of the award. The methods of breeding, quality of fodder, the shelter management and housing practices with respect to open area and cleanliness, are some of the factors taken into consideration. Technology management and animal husbandry practices are the other parameters.
The award assumes significance in the light of the strict selection process for nomination and an even stricter code of evaluation. Klimom, with its gaushala of 200+ cows, is breeding the cows only with the Gir bulls and thus helping in conserving as well as increasing the population of the indigenous Gir cows. Added to that, the open grazing spaces and organic fodder being fed to the cows, help in giving them a natural environment. Even the grass is grown for cows on the farm itself.
Speaking about the award, Allola Divya Reddy said, "I am happy that my mission of making the fresh A2 cow milk available to children is being recognized by the Government of India."
Klimom - The best Indian Cow Gaushala in India
Klimom Wellness and Farms was set up by Divya when she wanted to procure pure milk for her kids. Much to her dismay, there was not a single brand that could deliver fresh milk. Thus, her quest took her to Gujarat and she brought in pure-breed Gir cows. The committee was pleasantly surprised to see that a large Gaushala was set up with 5-star facilities for the cows. The acres of Gaushala had restricted entry so that the cows are in total comfort. Large organic plantations provided bountiful, fresh pasture for the cows. The cows are completely free and are tied only during the nights. The cows lived as families and the bulls impregnated them. There was no artificial insemination. The calves and bulls were well looked after. Mosquito Nets- the gaushalas have mosquito nets to protect the cows from mosquito bites. Calves are fed before drawing out the milk.

The Spotlight on Gir Cows
What was truly appreciated was the sense of purpose and mission that Divya believed in. Without any funding or Government financial aid, she conceptualized the idea of bringing Indian desi cows on to the centre stage. Her initiative is being emulated by a number of local farmers who are rearing indigenous cows. Divya Reddy also offer consulting services to set up Indigenous Gaushalas and is motivating farmers to take up the cause.
The freshest and pure milk
Klimom has a number of customers - mostly young women with new-born kids or growing up kids who love the fact that the A2 Milk is fresh and delivered to customers within just 2 hours. The milk is not pasteurized and is full of good health. What's more, the milk is packed in Tamper-proof Steel Flasks and delivered. She also educates customers through a very active YouTube and Facebook channel.
Motivating Farmers to take up the Indigenous Cow Mission
She felt elated receiving the award, in her words, "The last 3 years were tough. I set up the best Gaushala in India. The Gopal Ratna Award is recognition of all the hard work. I am sure, I will be able to motivate more farmers to rear Indigenous cows and create a win-win equation."
Amazing Cow-based Products: Pure Indian Cow Ghee and Milk-Based Sweets

Indian Cow-based Farming
The GauMutra - Indian cow urine is being used by cancer patients who are lauding her effort. She is also bringing in Indian cow dung based dhoop sticks and cow dung cakes for homams, and natural fertilizers for organic farms.
Passionate about her cause, Divya's eyes light up when she is with her growing Gaushala that has more than 200 pure-breed Gir cows. Her vision is to increase the population of Gir cows in India. The Gir cows were exported to Brazil decades back and the Brazilians enjoy the sheer health benefits of the A2 Milk.
"I want to make the Indian Gir cows multiply in great numbers. I want young Indians to be healthy. The Gopal Ratna Award is like the Oscar Award for Gaushalas. This Award will tell farmers that focusing on Indigenous cows is better. Winning this Award has made my resolution stronger. I want to do more so much more for the Indian cows and get back their lost glory," says Divya.
