Kimberly Finder, M.D. Asks: Are We Really In an Economic Recession?

SAN ANTONIO, July 15 While some say that paying $4 for agallon of gas or $4 for a cup of Starbuck's coffee is expensive, there aremany who are willing to spend more for another liquid. In the last quarter,Botox sales jumped 13% to $315.5 million. With Botox sales on the rise, onewould wonder if we are really in an economic recession or has looking goodbecome a necessity?

A survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery foundthat despite the economic concerns the use of fillers and Botox are on therise. Twenty-eight percent of the survey physicians said that their currentuse of fillers increased up to 30 percent, compared to six months ago and morethan 40 percent of survey respondents stated that the number of Botoxprocedures also increased compared to six months ago.
