The EHRVA, which is partnered with the Healthcare Information andManagement Systems Society (HIMSS), represents the majority of installed EHRsolutions in the U.S. and provides a leadership forum for the EHR communitythat is relative to standards development and harmonization as set by theHealthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP); EHR certificationas set by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology(CCHIT(R)); interoperability and performance; and quality measures. Theassociation also addresses other EHR issues that may become the subject ofincreased government, insurance and physician association interest.

Barnes is currently responsible for managing marketing, strategy,corporate development and government affairs at Greenway Medical, a leadingprovider of integrated EHR, practice management and interoperabilitysolutions. In the past three years, Barnes has formally addressed Congress andthe President's administration on eight occasions on topics such as EHR andhealthcare information technology (HIT) adoption, EHR certification, standardsharmonization, interoperability, privacy and security, confidentiality andcompliance, IT adoption incentives and the globalization of healthcare.
