The 83,000 jumpers who participated in the Jamba Jump Day event broke the previous Guinness World Record held by Australia, who had a documented 59,000 rope skippers. "We are beyond thrilled to have broken the Guinness World Record for the most people jumping/skipping rope at the same time," said James D. White, president and CEO, Jamba Juice Company. "Working with CAHPERD and participating in an event of this capacity that supports a healthy, active lifestyle has been exciting for all of us. We want to thank all of the communities across California who jumped in to help--together, we really jumped over the record from down under!"

Jamba Juice, which is recognized as one of the healthier, quick serve food and beverage brands, has had a longtime commitment to bringing high quality, better-for-you products to people on the go--while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Jamba Juice offers customers a variety of delicious products that contain no artificial flavors, no artificial preservatives, no high fructose corn syrup, and zero grams of trans fat--offering kids and adults alike healthier fare that doesn't sacrifice taste. As an avid supporter of schools for years, Jamba hopes to remind students and parents that a better for you meal and a fair amount of exercise can help keep kids healthy now, and in the future.

"We are so proud of CAHPERD's volunteers, Jamba Juice and California's kids for all skipping rope at the same time to beat the Guinness Record," exclaimed Kathleen Cordes, President, California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD). "However, we were especially proud that our leaders and students could remind the world that it doesn't have to cost a lot of money, and you don't need expensive equipment, and you don't have to be an elite athlete to be healthy and well. Today we demonstrated that all you need to be fit is a good pair of shoes and a jump rope!"

With today kicking off "American Heart Month," both CAHPERD and Jamba Juice hope that Jamba Jump Day and its support of rope skipping curriculum, reminded all that it doesn't require a great deal of money, expensive equipment or special, elite sports skills to be healthy and fit. Whether you Double Dutch, slowly skip or jump high--all you need is a jump rope to get your heart moving every day.

In addition to CAHPERD and Jamba Juice, other notable participants in this effort included the American Heart Association, the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the Southwest District of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), and HOPSports, Inc.
