SODIUM IODIDE I-131 is a radioactive therapeutic agent indicated for the treatment of hyperthyroidism and carcinoma of the thyroid. The American Cancer Society estimates more than fifty thousand adults in the United States are diagnosed with thyroid cancer each year.
