Local Women Joined Together to Set Guinness World Record, Raise Funds for Breast Cancer

FREDERICK, Md., May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of women donning their best Holly Golightly black cocktail dresses and tiaras took over downtown Frederick, MD, yesterday evening for the annual Breakfast at Tiffany's breast cancer fundraiser. More than 300 women participated in this year's event, with proceeds going to the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Foundation at Frederick Memorial Hospital. The unprecedented number of look-alikes at this year's event makes it a contender for a Guinness World Record.

Sponsored by Colonial Jewelers, the Weinberg Center for the Arts and the recently launched Someone With, the fundraiser supported an important cause while paying homage to the unforgettable diva played by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 classic movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Setting the tone for the evening, the fundraiser kicked-off at 6:00 p.m. at Colonial Jewelers, a local jewelry store in downtown Frederick.

The procession then advanced to the Weinberg Center for the Arts, a local theater where a private screening of Breakfast at Tiffany's was held, celebrating the movie's 50th anniversary. At the theater, a panel of judges selected the best Holly Golightly look-alike from the crowd, crowning her with a one-of-a-kind jeweled tiara.

"This is quite a sight — the streets of Frederick filled with hundreds of Holly Golightlys," said Paula Jagemann, Founder and CEO of Someone With and Co-chair of the Breakfast at Tiffany's fundraiser. "It's such a fun way to support a deserving cause, bringing together friends and celebrating the inner diva in all of us. After all, how often do you get to wear a tiara?"

Frederick Mayor Randy McClement was also in attendance as an honored guest and officiate, as the fundraiser attempted to secure a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Holly Golightly look-alikes.

"Each year I look forward to this event as it showcases the spirit of the people living in Frederick," said Mayor Randy McClement. "The Breakfast at Tiffany's event celebrates our community while raising funds for the important work of the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Foundation at Frederick Memorial Hospital."

The Guinness World Record attempt is now under official review with results expected in a few weeks. However, for the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Foundation, and for the sponsors of the Breakfast at Tiffany's event, the fundraiser was already a record-breaking success, with unprecedented participation and funds raised this year.

About the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Foundation

The Hurwitz Breast Cancer Foundation at Frederick Memorial Hospital was established in 1999 by Jeff and Patty Hurwitz, after Patty's diagnosis of breast cancer. Believing that early diagnosis was the key to Patty's successful outcome, the goal of the fund has been to provide the most innovative options in early detection and treatment for breast cancer. To date the fund has raised nearly $700,000 for this cause, and has funded some valuable enhancements to the Radiology and Breast Center departments.
