PHILADELPHIA, June 6, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Coalition Against Childhood Cancer (CAC2) announces the national launch of the Hope Portal, the most comprehensive, curated database of non-profits providing assistance to childhood cancer patients and their families. This free patient support tool allows childhood cancer families across the country to find support faster, easier, and in a more personalized way than ever before.

The Hope Portal is continually updated and returns customized search results by diagnosis, geographic location, and support category – such as household expenses, cancer camps, or medical bills. This robust tool gives pediatric cancer families, social workers, healthcare professionals, and advocates the power to navigate a wealth of resources according to their specific needs.

"Locating trustworthy information and support resources on the internet can be challenging and time-consuming for families, especially during crises," said Vickie Buenger, CAC2 President. "Hope Portal removes guesswork and frustration from the equation. This tool brings families and the professionals who help them vetted information in an easy-to-navigate format."

Hope Portal was first developed by healthcare educators at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles with support from the Ronald McDonald Children's Charities. The new Hope Portal updates, expands, and refines the original to take advantage of emerging technologies. It is made possible by a collaboration between the Coalition Against Childhood Cancer, the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON), the Association of Pediatric Social Workers (APOSW), and KBI Biopharma through its patient-focused efforts and sponsorship of the Anddit technology.

CAC2 encourages childhood cancer organizations, social workers, and hospitals to direct the families they encounter to hope-portal.org to find the help they need. The site includes step-by-step directions for organizations looking to add or refine a listing and instructions for embedding the Portal onto an external site.

"Hope Portal serves the core of our CAC2 mission, which is to put children and families first in everything we do and to support organizations active in the fight against childhood cancer," said Buenger. "It is our enduring hope that the efforts to build and improve the Hope Portal make it possible for individuals anywhere in the world to navigate the internet and find valuable sources of health information, support, and assistance that ease the many burdens and challenges of childhood cancer."
