FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Handtevy Founder and CMO, Peter Antevy, MD, was recognized as the National EMS Medical Director of the Year at EMS World Expo in Nashville this past week. Sponsored by NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians) and Bound Tree Medical, the honor recognizes an EMS Medical Director that demonstrates commitment to clinical excellence and serves as an outstanding role model for EMS agency personnel on a local and national level. The award was presented during NAEMT's General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, October 30th and during EMS World Expo's Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, October 31st.

Dr. Antevy has served as the Medical Director for numerous EMS agencies in South Florida since 2010. He also currently serves as the Medical Director for two paramedic training programs and several mobile integrated healthcare (MIH) programs in the tri-county region. "Dr. Antevy has been a strong leader at the local, state and national level and has been the spark that has created positive change in so many aspects of EMS," according to Julie Downey, Fire Chief at Davie Fire Rescue. Under his leadership and active involvement with his departments' continuous quality improvement programs (CQI), the community has seen a dramatic improvement in the outcomes of cardiac arrest patients. Moreover, Dr. Antevy has pioneered initiatives including the placement of severe bleeding kits in AED cabinets across the county and the creation of the Florida Stroke Registry.

Dr. Antevy has led a national movement to improve the care for critically ill and injured children with the development of a pediatric resuscitation system, the Handtevy System, for healthcare professionals in the pre-hospital and hospital settings. Anderson Memorial Award, for his efforts to improve the outcomes of critically ill and injured children. Dr. Antevy is frequently invited to lecture and teach around the country about pediatric resuscitation, cardiac arrest and mobile integrated health.
