Federal regulations and state laws require IV-D agencies to obtain,maintain, and enforce medical child support orders. These children maycurrently be enrolled in Public Assistance and Medicaid programs. HMS'sservices identify children who have access to private healthcare coveragethrough a non-custodial or custodial parent or other resource. These types ofmedical support tasks are often time-consuming and can strain state budgetsand resources.
