WHAT: Get The Meds Out Awareness Day

Local officials and residents will register for the nation's first of itskind consumer medication return program. Valuable safety information aboutissues surrounding the dangers of unused, out-dated prescription and non-prescription drugs in the home, and proper medication disposal tips will bepresented.

WHY: To generate awareness and participation in the Get the Meds Outinitiative, a consumer medication return pilot program targeted to more than500,000 potential participants within Waukesha and Winnebago Counties inWisconsin. The program, pioneered by Capital Returns, Inc. is providing a safedrug disposal alternative to the local community while bringing nationalattention to drug safety issues affecting the public and the environment. Theprogram is funded through UWEX administered grants from the EPA, WisconsinDepartment of Natural Resources, and the Wisconsin Department of AgricultureTrade and Consumer Protection.
