ATLANTA, Oct. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The founder of SCF (Shaolin Chan Foundation & GZC (Global Zen Consciousness

Conference), DeRu (Shawn X. Liu) will speak on Zen consciousness in relation to global issues and solutions at Harvard University on Oct. 25th from 1:30 to 4:00 pm at 1 Oxford Street, Cambridge, MA 02138, Science Center Hall A.

Fresh from the inaugural Global Zen Consciousness Conference ( in Atlanta, GA, DeRu, a 31st generation Grandmaster from China's Shaolin Temple and founder of the Global Zen Consciousness Conference (GCZ), Global Zen Alliance (GZA), and the Shaolin Chan Foundation (SCF), will bring his teachings on Zen lifestyle and Zen Tai Gong to Harvard.

During Worldwide Week, Harvard schools, research centers, departments, and student organizations will host academic and cultural events with global or international themes. Visit their website for a list of all the Worldwide Week events at Harvard:

Grandmaster DeRu's mission is to unify the different fields of consciousness research, from contemporary quantum mechanics to ancient Eastern wisdom and philosophies, in an attempt to resolve many of the world's most pressing challenges.

From his background in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Buddhist philosophy, and basic Western medical science and physiology to his work with quantum physicists and medical doctors through the Global Zen Alliance, DeRu brings an interdisciplinary and global perspective to the questions that Harvard's Worldwide Week poses: Are you a global citizen? Is that a good thing? What are the major issues facing education globally? What is the future of global health?

In the process of answering those questions, DeRu will challenge his audience to look inward and first work on themselves before attempting to correct others. DeRu explains, "Before we can fix the world's most urgent problems, we must see and resolve our own problems." In his teachings, he explicates the Zen pathway for solving internal problems: "Zen allows you to open your infinite mind and free yourself from \'self,\' \'ego,\' and your limited \'physical being.\' It allows you to awaken yourself and explore your greatest potential and understand your purest inner-intelligent being within and without."

Grandmaster DeRu propagates, "Zen lifestyle aims to heighten consciousness, ultimately achieving a state known as 'Zen Consciousness'. This is a pure state of being that optimizes our health and awakens our inner potential, unleashing our power of imagination, innovation, and creation. He further explains, I have taught and shared Zen consciousness and Zen Tai Gong, which is a combination of Qi Gong, Yoga, Shaolin and Tai Chi, with many cancer patients and patients with hypertension, diabetes, anxiety, depression, autistic disorders, obesity, and many other health issues. Most of them have overcome their health issues by following the program and have become healthy again. Each individual is endowed with a self-natured intelligence, and everyone should make a full use of it."
