Campagna is uniquely suited to this role; she brings a deep understanding of the profession and its needs. A past chair of the Commission, she has spent the last 25 years in case management leadership, and was in the first class of case managers to take the certified case manager (CCM®) exam in 1993. Most recently, she served as assistant vice president for case management at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Commission, the oldest and largest organization certifying case managers, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. It advocates for professional case management excellence through certification and related programs and services. It is dedicated to workforce development, evaluating and certifying case managers and ensuring they are prepared to excel in an evolving health care environment.

"The Commission has grown through strong relationships with like-minded organizations. I can think of no better person to build upon these relationships than Vivian," said Commission CEO MaryBeth Kurland, CAE. "Vivian is an experienced case manager, devoted to the Commission and its work. In addition to her previous service as board chair, she has been a mentor, educator, CCMC commissioner and case management leader."

Under the direction of the CEO, Campagna will work with the Commission's leadership team. "Like us, she is committed to the Commission's vision and mission to promote, advance and advocate for quality case management practice. In addition, she understands the value and importance of professional certification," Kurland said.

As part of Campagna's new role, she will explore and develop strategic partnership and alliance opportunities on behalf of the Commission. This includes the Commission's collaboration with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) which addresses the growing demand for health care case managers by giving more social workers the opportunity to earn the CCM credential. The CCM is the only credential endorsed by NASW for case managers working in health care settings.

"Health care delivery systems are transforming in ways we could have only imagined a decade ago. The most significant change—the heightened focus on managing populations across the community—requires a trained, prepared workforce of board-certified case managers who are guided by a professional code of conduct," Campagna said. "In creating this new position, the Commission signals its ongoing commitment to promote, advance and advocate."
