Florida Hospital Recognized for Patient Safety

Florida Hospital, West Florida Division earns risk management and patient safety collaboration award.

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Florida Hospital, West Florida Division of Adventist Health System,

continues to make strides in patient safety. The hospital division was awarded the 2018 Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety (FSHRMPS) Collaboration Award.

The award is granted to organizations that show excellence in:

  • aligning risk management and patient safety strategy with the organizational mission, vision, values and goals;
  • creating opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration to promote effective patient safety outcomes;
  • advocating for the inclusion of the principles of proactive risk mitigation within patient safety and quality improvement initiatives;
  • promoting the application of high reliability principles at all levels of the organization.

Earlier this year, Florida Hospital became the only health care system in the Greater Tampa Bay Area, to have every participating hospital earn an A from the prestigious Leapfrog Group. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade measures 27 areas of hospital safety and scores hospitals with A, B, C, D and F grades based on performance in such areas as preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.
