TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second
The Kay Meyer Breast Care Center at Florida Hospital Tampa is now offering advanced breast cancer diagnostic technology through Molecular Breast Imaging (MBI). This technology allows radiologists to use a specialized camera to detect cancers in patients who may have dense breast tissue, scar tissue, breast implants or inconclusive mammograms. Women are also able to sit and experience only minor compression for the procedure. Florida Hospital Tampa is the only hospital in Tampa and only one of a few in the state to offer this technology.
The Florida Hospital Zephyrhills Simpson Breast Health Center is the only hospital in the Tampa Bay area offering the new GE Senographe Pristina 3D mammography technology with the Dueta remote. The Dueta is a remote control the patient uses to determine the amount of compression that is comfortable for them. Studies show many women are anxious and tend to become tense during a mammogram. The tension can cause breast muscles to contract and can impact the quality of the images. The Pristina with Dueta helps patients feel more comfortable during a mammogram.
The Florida Hospital Heartland Breast Care Center recently purchased automated whole-breast ultrasound (ABUS) technology. This non-invasive, radiation-free option can identify breast cancer, as small as a chocolate chip, in patients with dense breast tissue. ABUS should be done in conjunction with a screening mammogram. Mammograms can still detect what an ultrasound alone may miss when patients have dense breast tissue.
Florida Hospital is committed to investing in the most advanced technology possible to provide the highest quality care to every patient, every time. Through our leading-edge innovation and procedures, we're able to continuously provide exceptional, whole-person care.
