Organization is pleased to announce the election of Mr. Miguel Escobar and Dr. David Martin to the Board of Directors.

NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Episcopal Relief & Development is pleased to announce the election of two new members to the Board of Directors. Mr. Miguel Escobar and Dr. David Martin joined the Board of Directors effective January 1.

Mr. Escobar is Executive Director of Episcopal Divinity School at Union Theological Seminary (EDS) where he works with the Very. Rev. Kelly Brown Douglas, Dean of EDS, to build a Master of Divinity in Anglican Studies program aimed at forming Gospel-based, social justice faith leaders for The Episcopal Church. Previously, he served as Managing Program Director at the Episcopal Church Foundation and as Communications Assistant to then-Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori. Mr. Escobar also serves on Episcopal Relief & Development's Church Programs Committee.

Dr. Martin is an independent consultant, with broad experience in the software industry, specializing in the technical analysis of software systems. Additionally, he is an elected city council member in Ames, Iowa, and has served in local parishes in the roles of vestry member, chorister, website manager and clergy spouse, most recently at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Martin is also a part of Episcopal Relief & Development's Administration and Finance committee.

Episcopal Relief & Development, a 501(c)(3) operating under the General Convention of The Episcopal Church, is governed by a 20-member Board of Directors that includes clergy and lay leaders from around the country. New board members are nominated by the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church and by the Chair of the Board of Episcopal Relief & Development in consultation with the Board's Governance Committee. The Board votes on new members and elections take effect when ratified by the Executive Council of The Episcopal Church.
