DALLAS, Feb. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Independent Colleges and Universities Benefits Association, Inc. ("ICUBA") has

announced the expansion of its member healthcare coverage for the 2019 benefits plan year through their partnership with Employer Direct Healthcare's SurgeryPlus®, a supplemental benefit for non-emergent surgeries that provides a concierge-quality healthcare
experience at substantial savings.

As a 17 year old self-funded health care cooperative covering more than 16,000 people, the purpose of ICUBA (www.icuba.org) is to pool the insurance risk and purchasing power of its current 27 private Florida education employer member schools to provide high quality, cost-effective health and wellbeing benefits through collaboration.  The ICUBA vision is to deliver better access to care through programs like SurgeryPlus® so members are engaged to improve population health and wellbeing outcomes.

ICUBA will offer SurgeryPlus® at no out of pocket cost for its two Gold and one Silver medical plan offerings, whose premiums are the same for all members regardless of experience or demographics. As a result, all school members of ICUBA share in the aggregate cost of benefits, regardless of size.  This strategy protects individual employer members from unstable annual premium rate increases. ICUBA's unique value proposition allows them to provide Florida private schools with benefit packages that surpass industry standards and focus on quality management of its health plans.

With their new partnership with SurgeryPlus®, ICUBA's plan members will have access to an elite, high-performance Surgeons of Excellence network that includes top quality, and 100 percent board-certified providers. Providers in the SurgeryPlus network have been rigorously screened, significantly reducing the risk of surgical complications.

With SurgeryPlus®, ICUBA's plan members are provided with access to a full health concierge service with personal Care Advocates who handle every aspect of their surgical experience, including travel coordination and all scheduling, for a complete white-glove service from start to finish.

John Zutter, CEO of Employer Direct Healthcare said, "The mission and values of ICUBA, to provide high quality, cost-effective health and wellbeing benefits to members align perfectly with our own.  As an ICUBA brand partner, we look forward to close collaboration and the opportunity to provide a superior solution to serve the needs of ICUBA members."
