Dymedix Diagnostics Launches a Line of Purpose Built Pediatric Diagnostic Sleep Sensors called Lullaby

Dymedix Diagnostics, the leading industry provider of PVDF based airflow and respiratory effort sensors, has launched the Lullaby™ Pediatric Sensors line specifically designed for the neonatal, infant and pediatric patient populations.

sensors, which consist of multiple airflow and respiratory effort options that have been specifically designed for the neonatal, infant and pediatric populations. The company has created this brand in response to feedback from the medical industry that many sensors, particularly those related to respiratory monitoring are not designed in the best interest of infant and children aged patient applications. As such, they are often relatively heavy, oversized, and uncomfortable to young patients undergoing testing and observation in sleep disorders centers, long term monitoring centers, and even neonatal monitoring environments. A better set of options was needed to improve the patient experience while also making sensor disposability more practical.

All of the sensors in the Lullaby™ line are based on polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) technology, a cutting edge material that is sensitive to heat, pressure and vibration. Unlike legacy materials, the PVDF polymer is light, thin and very flexible, which is ideal for pediatric patient applications. Sensors made with this material can be much smaller and more comfortable without the loss of signal quality or speed. Indeed, PVDF actually outperforms many conventional sensors in these regards. Further, the respiratory belts can also be cut-to-fit for custom sizing for each pediatric patient tested. Finally, these sensors can greatly assist with infection control through providing disposable or semi-disposable options at a reasonable price per study.

The Lullaby™ line consists of three different disposable oral/nasal airflow sensors capable of detecting apneas, hypopneas, and potentially upper airway resistance in pediatric subjects. One airflow option, the iFM™ Infant Filtration Module is completely new and designed specifically to enhance and improve the monitoring of shallow, rapid respirations of neonates and infants. Further, there are three different respiratory effort monitoring options, from the fully disposable FastTrack™ Effort Pack to the semi-disposable PerfectFit™ 3D and SnuggleFit™ Infant Effort Belt products. The latter option is also new, comprised of a unique respiratory effort belt small enough to be comfortably applied to neonates and infants and capable of detecting their rapid respiratory movements accurately.
