Duracell Holiday Ambassador Kicks Off Duracell 'Power A Smile' Campaign In Chicago

Sophie Michael is local winner, one of five children from across the U.S.awarded the Duracell Holiday Ambassador title to spread goodwill this holidayseason WHAT: Duracell's Chicago area Holiday Ambassador, Naperville second grader Sophie Michael, will deliver toys and batteries to Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago to kick off the Duracell Power A Smile campaign, which aims to help power smiles in children's hospitals across the country. The team of Duracell Holiday Ambassadors, one each from Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Cleveland, are encouraging families to visit http://www.PowerASmile.com to simply share one smile to power another. The five ambassadors met child actor Abigail Breslin, star of "Little Miss Sunshine," in New York City on Dec. 4 to kick-off the donation process. For every photo of a smile that is uploaded to the web site, http://www.powerasmile.com, Duracell will donate $1 to children's hospitals, including Children's Memorial Hospital. Three children were chosen via an online casting call at http://www.powerasmile.com, while one child each was chosen from in-person casting call events in Dallas and Chicago. The participants were judged based on how well they reenacted that moment of excitement upon opening or powering up a gift for the first time, their overall enthusiasm and suitability as a spokesperson. The judging panel included Janet Chan, editor-in-chief of Parenting magazine, representatives from children's hospitals and representatives from Duracell.
