As Dr. Pane explained, tummy tucks are one of the most commonly performed procedures at Atlantic Coast Aesthetics. Also known as an abdominoplasty, tummy tucks are usually done on people who are experiencing some laxity in the skin of their abdomen. This includes women who have given birth, those who have lost a lot of weight, and people with conditions that cause sagging of the skin around the abdomen.
"Side effects tend to be mild to moderate and include tenderness, soreness, redness and drainage along the incision site," Dr. Pane said, adding that he performs tummy tucks as a same-day surgery.
In most cases, Dr. Pane noted, patients feel so good they might overdo it too soon after surgery. He is careful to warn them against doing too much, because then they will experience less residual pain.
As a double board-certified plastic surgeon—holding certifications from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery—Dr. Pane is highly-qualified to perform tummy tucks. He graduated from the University of Connecticut (UConn) medical school, and began his practice in Newport, Rhode Island.
