CRANBURY, N.J., Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Advances in cancer treatment and care have traditionally been measured

in years. For patients in the battle of their lives, however, waiting for the next breakthrough isn't always an option. For them, the need is now.

This urgency is the motivation behind the Biden Cancer Initiative and the topic of Dr. Jill Biden's keynote presentation at the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) Ninth Annual Navigation & Survivorship Conference in Dallas.

Dr. Biden will take the stage of the Hilton Anatole (2201 North Stemmons Freeway, Dallas) Trinity Ballroom at 9:00 am on Friday, November 16, 2018, to speak about the need to accelerate research, bridge the gaps in cancer care, break down barriers, increase knowledge sharing, and ultimately provide hope. She'll then be joined by Lillie Shockney, RN, BS, MAS, ONN-CG, Co-Founder and Program Director, AONN+, for a question and answer session.

In addition to the more than 1,000 conference attendees, AONN+ has invited Cancer Support Community North Texas and other local advocacy groups to bring area cancer patients and their families to hear Dr. Biden's message in person.

"AONN+ is so pleased that Dr. Biden could join us for this event and share her message of hope and support with our members and special guests from the North Texas region," shares AONN+'s Danelle Johnston, MSN, RN, ONN-CG, OCN, Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Initiatives. "As navigators, we understand all too well the barriers that patients, caregivers, and researchers face. It's this shared comprehension and commitment to advancing care and treatment that inspired AONN+ to become an early partner of the Biden Cancer Initiative."

Each year, AONN+'s Navigation & Survivorship Conference draws navigation and other oncology professionals together from across the country for the opportunity to gain valuable insight and cutting-edge ideas, share oncology navigation best practices, and discuss treatment trends and challenges.
