SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Mar. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Deborah Wilson, M.D. and Associates Gynecology in Scottsdale and its founder, Dr. Deborah Wilson, have announced a new scholarship contest in which the winning applicant will be awarded a $1,000 educational scholarship. The award is intended to encourage those with autism (Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD) to further their post-secondary education.
Persons with ASD experience a wide variety of symptoms, and some of those symptoms have a profound effect on the person's classroom performance and behavior. Moreover, it is not uncommon for an individual diagnosed with autism to experience other conditions, among them ADHD, all of which act as deterrents for many who might otherwise pursue additional educational opportunities. As a result, many individuals with autism find themselves both unenrolled in school and unemployed during the few years after high school. The scholarship is being offered in the hope, shared by Dr. Wilson and her staff, that it will not only serve to benefit the winner by reducing his or her educational expenses, but also to act as an encouragement to those diagnosed with autism to continue their studies.

The scholarship application is open to both former and current students. Applications are due on or before February 28, 2020, and the winner will be announced not later than July 7, 2020.
