Dr. Kennedy's presentation, entitled "E-Prescribing: An Early HealthInformation Exchange Tool," will discuss how e-Prescribing offers a path tohelp reduce the underlying cost of care, improve quality and safety, andreduce administrative costs by helping physicians, patients, and all caregivers make better decisions using evidence based medicine. Dr. Kennedy, as amember of the keynote reactor panel, will also be part of the keynote sessionfocused on the importance of partnering with the consumer for better health byproviding the health plan industry's perspective.
At WellPoint, Dr. Kennedy is responsible for building technical solutionswhich leverage health plan data sets to help improve patient care. With over20 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Kennedy has deployed several advancedhealth IT tools and was responsible for helping with strategic acquisitionsand investments in companies that focus on healthcare technology.
In addition to being a recognized expert in Health IT, Dr. Kennedy hasserved on multiple boards such as the National Alliance for Health InformationTechnology (NAHIT), the California Regional Health Information Organization(CalRHIO), AHIC Successor, Inc., and was a founding commissioner of theCertification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT).
