Dr Batra's™ Foundation hosted the 8th edition of Yaadon Ki Bahaar, an annual singing concert, at Sophia Bhabha Auditorium in Mumbai. The event was graced
The home accommodates and cares for over 30 aged widows, providing them with free housing, meals, medical care and other necessities. Dr Batra's™ has been associated with Shepherd Widows Home for over three decades and has been committed to providing free lifetime healthcare treatment to the residents. Dr. Mukesh Batra instituted the musical concert with a view to move beyond cheque book philanthropy as the concert is not just about the money that goes to them; it's a tribute to their spirit.
Speaking at the concert, Dr Mukesh Batra, Founder & Chairman Emeritus Dr Batra's™ Group of Companies, said, "The steady rise in nuclear families has led to the disappearance of the joint family system which has become a bane for the elderly. It is disheartening when children don't think before abandoning their parents and forget all that they have done for them. Our association with Shepherd Widows Home dates back to more than 30 years and we remain steadfast in our efforts to ensure that the residents not only receive a meaningful donation, but also continue to receive appropriate healthcare. I feel that all of us need to give a part of ourselves if we wish to see a positive change in our society. I constantly keep pushing myself to enhance my talents so that I can give back more to society."
"Through our foundation, we've been supporting the underprivileged with their medical, educational and nutritional needs. Last year, we provided mid-day meals for over a lakh students and this year we have pledged to provide free treatments to over a lakh patients. The larger vision of the foundation in future is 'one for one treatment' i.e., for every paid treatment, we will provide free treatment to the underprivileged," Dr. Mukesh Batra further added.
Speaking at the event, actor Rohit Roy said, "Having known Dr. Mukesh Batra for years, I am deeply touched with the phenomenal work he has been doing through his practice and service. Be it through free clinics, supporting to several NGO's through free treatments, fund-raising events and many more such activities, Dr Mukesh Batra is a man on a mission to ensure that no one in need of medical attention is ever denied of it. I feel honoured to be a part of this noble initiative."
