SALT LAKE CITY, May 14, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Purjes Foundation, and Dan Purjes
The new International Journal of Disease Reversal & Prevention will publish peer-reviewed, scientific articles on the ability of plant-based, whole foods nutrition to prevent and actually reverse chronic disease.
"There have been several scientific studies and numerous cases of disease reversal through lifestyle modification. More and more such studies are being done and reported," explains Dan Purjes. "However, to date, these have been published in scattered medical journals of low impact, and they have not gotten the attention they deserve."
Now, the International Journal of Disease Reversal & Prevention (the "Journal") will serve as the central repository for scientific research documenting the effects of nutrition to arrest and reverse chronic lifestyle-related diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and many other chronic diseases.
Dr. Kim Williams, the Chief of Cardiology at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, will serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal. Dr. Williams was the past President of the American College of Cardiology and editor-in-chief of its acclaimed medical journal, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, commonly called JACC.
Dr. Laurie Marbas will be the Managing Editor of the Journal, responsible for its day-to-day operations . Dr. Marbas is board certified in family medicine and lifestyle medicine, has an MBA in health organization management, and was a major in the US Air Force. Dr. Marbas has many years of experience engaging patients to improve their health with nutrition and lifestyle interventions.
The Journal will be built on a dynamic digital platform, engineered to disseminate information effectively to clinicians, scientists, and thought leaders globally.
A companion publication, called Disease Reversal Digest, will provide the scientific research published in the Journal, but in layman's terms. It is aimed for the general public and media. The Disease Reversal Digest will also be available on-line.
