Diacetyl is an artificial butter flavor used in many popcorn products, including a significant number of microwave popcorn items. There has been amovement in the State of California, specifically legislative bills AB514 andSB456, to ban the use of chemical Diacetyl in production facilities andcommercial distribution. In addition, the New York Times reported today thatthe Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association issued a statementrecommending that its members reduce "to the extent possible" the amount ofDiacetyl in the butter flavorings they make, out of concern for the health andsafety of both factory workers and consumers.

As a result of the current concern over this issue, Dale and Thomas willoffer its friends throughout the country a way to continue to munch on theirfavorite snack food in a safe and delicious way. No popcorn lover should bewithout the fluffy white snack for a movie or get together! That's whythroughout the weekend of September 7th, Dale and Thomas will offer anyone tocome in to one of its twelve Popcorn Centers throughout the country, and tradein a bag of microwave popcorn for a bag of freshly popped gourmet Dale andThomas Popcorn(R) (limit 2 per person).
