WASHINGTON, Nov. 25 -- Compressus, leaders in interoperability of disparate healthcare IT systems, today announced the company has recently completed three customer agreements for the implementation of Enterprise-wide interoperability solutions, integrating digital imaging and data management systems. Involving 23 hospitals and imaging centers around the country, the multiple implementations will include some 100 radiologists and a combined diagnostic image volume of more than 2 million, when all phases of implementation are complete.
The sites include Texas Radiology Associates (TRA) of Plano, Texas, Meridian Imaging P.A. (MIPA) of Meridian, Miss., and Southwest Imaging and Interventional Specialists (SIIS) of Dallas, Texas.
TRA, a 70 member radiology group, recently acquired a new hospital contract with a light study load that requires an onsite radiologist, MEDxConnect will enable the radiologist to be as productive as those physicians staffing facilities with significant study volumes. TRA contacted Compressus to connect sites on the network for workload balancing across the TRA private network and to make subspecialty reads available in an efficient manner. MIPA is a private clinical radiology practice, which consists of 12 facilities, five disparate PACS archives, five disparate RIS systems and multiple dictation platforms. MIPA selected Compressus for the functional capability of MEDxConnect to aggregate all of the disparate archives into one common worklist, display relevant priors, and historical documents associated to specific studies. SIIS is a 22 member radiology group that has chosen MEDxConnect to provide a more efficient use of the group's subspecialty capabilities across the SIIS enterprise, create an electronic order from contracted facilities that are without a RIS and streamline the disparate dictation platforms.
"We have some very talented radiologists capable of high quality subspecialty reads within the SIIS network; however, with our current systems, we're not using them as effectively as we'd like. Being able to centralize disparate modalities and systems into a single, virtual worklist will enable us to improve the quality of our care and the ability to provide that care quickly and efficiently," said Scott Bundy, MD, neuroradiologist and director of business development at SIIS.
The MEDxConnect System acts as a communications hub, enabling various PACS, HIS, RIS and other data information systems to connect and communicate across the Enterprise. Utilizing HL7, DICOM, and other standards, the System helps control the flow of images, reports, messages, standard patient demographics and other important data for diagnosis and treatment planning of a patient between otherwise independent and disparate systems. The integrated imaging and data management solution from Compressus is designed to support a facility's current and expanded workload and provide an infrastructure for sustained growth. Building the functionality required for remote connectivity, the system enables users to access diagnostic images and reports in the existing data stores at each facility, increasing the level of medical care while reducing the associated costs.
