NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CogniFit, a key player in the cognitive assessment and brain training market, now

allows its users to seamlessly send a report of their cognitive results to their doctor in a couple of clicks. This new feature is optional and completely controlled by the user. It offers a simpler way for the physicians to monitor and track the cognitive
status and progress of their patients.

The report includes the user's brain training regimen and a comprehensive set of results detailed by sessions. The training regimen includes the number and type of brain exercises completed by each user, date, time, and duration of every training session among other variables. The report breaks down the results for each patient in 5 core cognitive areas: attention, coordination, memory, perception, and reasoning. To provide health professionals with more detailed results, these cognitive areas are then split in 23 cognitive abilities such as focus, hand-eye coordination, visual short-term memory, spatial perception, processing speed, and so on.

"At CogniFit, we know how critically important are physicians to help guide their patients towards a better mental health," said Carlos Rodriguez, CogniFit CTO. "By giving an option of added transparency and communication to share cognitive performance with their health professionals, we increase the awareness and the patient's commitment toward a better brain health."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only 19.3% of people experiencing confusion or memory loss reported discussing these changes with a healthcare provider. By letting CogniFit users send their cognitive results to their healthcare professional, CogniFit helps motivate people to communicate more about their cognition and cognitive impairment.

CogniFit brain fitness programs are unique because they start with a baseline assessment of each user's cognitive profile. This neurocognitive assessment tool is designed to capture a large range of cognitive skills related to executive functions. Using these results, CogniFit personalizes a training regimen specifically for the user's cognitive needs. The more often a user trains, the more the programs can analyze their performance and provide each user with a sequence of cognitive exercises that are personalized to their cognitive needs.
