Chicago's Premier Sports and Fitness Auction is Back!

CHICAGO, Nov. 9 Get ready to kayak, golf, run, bike, dine,relax, shop, travel and more with all the auction items offered for sale atthis year's Go Girl Gala, taking place Friday November 16 at the ChicagoCultural Center. The annual event, which attracts more than 600 sports andfitness enthusiasts, features live music from the Underwater People,cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and plenty of fun--all for a great cause.

The Go Girl Gala benefits Girls on the Run(R) Chicago (GOTRC), an after-school program for young girls that uses the power of running to change theway girls see themselves and their opportunities. GOTRC's innovative physicalactivity program combines training for a 5K run/walk with life-changinglessons on topics such as leadership, community service, healthy eating andemotional health that inspire a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

"This is without a doubt the runners' social event of the year," said DaveZimmer, owner of Fleet Feet Sports, a sponsor of the event. Other major eventsponsors this year include Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Perkins Wolf McDonnell andCompany LLC, Peak 6, Magellan Development, Next Generation Equity Research andHuron Consulting Group.

"This year's gala auction has items to entice everyone," said KellyO'Brien, executive director of GORTC. "From the die hard sports fan to theadventure enthusiast, marathon runner, spa junkie or couples hoping to wineand dine, we've got it all -- and all to support the dreams and hard work ofhundreds of wonderful young girls."

More than 130 items will be part of what has become known as Chicago'spremier sports and fitness auction. Auction items this year include:autographed jerseys and other sports memorabilia from Ryne Sandberg, GregMaddux, Bobby Jenks, Brian Urlacher, Devin Hester, Lance Armstrong and manymore; race entries and triathlon coaching; pilates/gyrotonic sessions; golfperformance evaluations and golf outings; personal training sessions; weekendgetaways and Chicago hotel stays at Hotel Allegro (Chicago), The James Hotel(Chicago), Kohler Resort (Wisconsin), Oakbrook Hills Resort (Oakbrook) andprivate sail on Lake Michigan.

In addition, GOTRC will raffle off a four-night stay at Chateau Andelot inSt. Amour, France! Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance athttp://www.gotrchicago.org. All proceeds of the gala and auction benefit GOTRCdirectly.

The gala's pre-event VIP reception will feature Molly Barker, founder andvision keeper of Girls on the Run nationally, and honorary co-chair AldermanSandi Jackson.
