Littleton Adventist Hospital patient satisfaction scores around lab draws, IV placement and overall degree to which staff showed compassion jumped up by an average of 15.4% during the 90 days post-implementation. This product moves nurses back to the bedside performing hands on patient care for the lab draws and the impact for our patients has been rewarding for the nurses as well.

Littleton Adventist Hospital was the first acute care hospital in Colorado to implement this needle-free blood draw practice, removing a staggering 28,699 needles from the workplace in its first 90 days at one hospital site. Occupational Health has reported zero practitioner needle-injuries related to lab draws since its inception.

A patient at Littleton Adventist Hospital stated, "On a specific occasion, 2-3am in the morning someone came in and drew blood and I was unaware until they were walking out the door…I got a good night sleep!" Improving our patient experience by minimizing needle-stick blood draws decreasing pain and anxiety in nearly every patient while also decreasing risk for practitioners from needle-related injuries.

Centura Health is continually striving to improve the patient experience and lead Colorado in being patient centric and quality oriented. By using this revolutionary technology Centura Health's caregivers can collect blood samples from an indwelling peripheral IV line, enabling a high quality extraction directly from the vein. This standard of care is currently in use in several of Centura Health's Denver metro area hospitals and will become available at the other Centura Health hospitals throughout the year as part of our system-wide rollout and commitment to an improved patient experience while in our care.
