CBH's decision to host the "vending machine" is a part of its larger harm reduction strategy to help the general population gain access to a wide range of health-related kits. Available today, individuals can access for free mini sharps containers, clean needle kits, personal hygiene kits, safe sex kits, first aid kits, Narcan kits, as well as pregnancy tests.
Available to the general population of Las Vegas, the vending machine provides easy access that does not require a medical appointment. The vending machine is a part of Center for Behavioral Health's mission to address addiction on multiple fronts. The vending machine is located at:
Center for Behavioral Health 3050 East Desert Inn Road, Suite 115, Las Vegas, NV 89121
"We are always looking for ways to advance our beliefs in the harm reduction model," said Brant Massman, CEO of Center for Behavioral Health. "This vending machine is the first of its kind in Nevada and has already shown great value to the Las Vegas community at TracB and Southern Nevada Health District. Center for Behavioral Health's vending machine provides easy access to health-related kits that are free and easy to access."
CBH has always been on the forefront of customer care. For instance, CBH's Nevada facilities recently instituted a peer support program to bridge the transition into addiction treatment. The advantages of introducing peer support in opioid-related cases is that it provides an individual that has traveled down a similar road, identified an exit and understands the challenges and opportunities that opioid addiction and recovery presents. Additionally, CBH, with support of the Opioid State Targeted Response (STR) Integrated Opioid Treatment and Recovery Centers (IOTRC) Grant, has expanded its scope of services to coordinate a patient's first contact with treatment providers. The STR Grant provides a vital link that allows CBH to be proactive in identifying and diagnosing opioid addiction and setting patients on the road to recovery.
