ATLANTA, June 9 AmeriCare (www.americareinfo.com), the leading home-based caregiving franchiser, announced plans for expansion into four cities in South Carolina: Charleston, Columbia, Greenville and North Charleston.

"Our decision to expand into South Carolina reflects an unmet and growing demand for quality, home-based caregiving services in the state," said Debra Reis, president of AmeriCare. "Two facts support our expansion: first, the age group with the highest demand for caregiving services, those over age 60, makes up nearly 20 percent of South Carolina's population, and that segment is growing. Second, there has been a measured impact not only on families but on the business community as well." A recent AARP survey of South Carolina businesses found that 52 percent of the nearly 600 businesses surveyed had employees ask for time off for caregiving. Of those businesses surveyed by AARP 64 percent said their employees had provided care or assistance to older persons in the last two years. The latest figures on caregiving in South Carolina tallied an estimated 560,000 unpaid caregivers (usually friends or family members) in the state who devoted more than 610 million hours to caregiving. "It's a tremendous challenge for businesses and a personal challenge for families to find quality caregiving services - we're expanding in South Carolina to be part of the solution," added Reis.

AmeriCare's expansion into South Carolina is part of a larger national growth strategy announced earlier this year. AmeriCare franchises provide caregiving services to seniors and families with a choice of licensed, pre-screened, personally selected caregivers who work with individuals to create a unique customized care plan, free of limitations or restrictions. The caregiving company is actively seeking new franchisees to own and operate franchises in the four largest cities in the state to bring AmeriCare's services into communities with the greatest need and opportunity. Entrepreneurs invest $30,000 to purchase a franchise with AmeriCare providing the structure, training, marketing plans and materials, and ongoing support to ensure local market success.
