"The new CareFusion Knowledge Portal was developed based on customer input and 20 years of expertise in gathering device data from more than 3,000 customers," said David Schlotterbeck, chairman and CEO of CareFusion. "This is an area we will continue to invest in to deliver more offerings that provide actionable information to help improve patient care."

The Knowledge Portal transforms the data from CareFusion products into key performance indicators and trends, which are customized to a customer's target range without requiring additional technical or in-house staffing resources. Leveraging the device's data, the Knowledge Portal addresses:

"CareFusion's analytics programs give us the ability to see what we need to focus on and make improvements quickly in one single application," said Tommy Harvey, pharmacy systems analyst at St. Joseph's/Candler Health System. "Being able to see what medications are not being used helps us create space for those medications that we are constantly loading and unloading. This not only affects the inventory in our CareFusion Pyxis system, but it helps our staff be more productive and also helps us make sure medications are available to nursing as soon as they need them."

Expanding Integrated Analytics Solutions

The Knowledge Portal for Pyxis products and the Alaris Infusion System is an extension of CareFusion's Analytics Service. While the Knowledge Portal offers quick access to customers' device data, the Analytics Service provides a monthly, customized analysis and analyst recommendations based on observations in customers' data. Through the Knowledge Portal and Analytics Services, there is a complete suite for device-data management.

CareFusion Knowledge Portal and Analytics Services are available in the U.S. with plans to launch the solution in additional countries in 2010. For more information on the CareFusion® Knowledge Portal, please visit www.carefusion.com/analytics.
