BOTHELL, Wash., March 11 Cardiac ScienceCorporation (Nasdaq: CSCX), a global leader in advanced cardiac diagnosis, resuscitation, rehabilitation, and informatics products, announced thatMexico's Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores delEstado (ISSSTE) ordered 282 electrocardiograph systems (ECGs) -- the singlelargest ECG order in Cardiac Science history. Instrumentation Technologies deMexico, Cardiac Science's exclusive distributor in Mexico, managed the sale.
ISSSTE is Mexico's main Mexican hospital network for millions ofgovernment workers. Seeking a leader in connectivity technology, ISSSTE choseCardiac Science to upgrade services throughout the hospital system and givehealthcare practitioners in remote locations access to faraway cardiologyexperts. Cardiac Science ECG devices come with communications features tonetwork ECG patient data and allow practitioners to send ECG results tohospital information (HIS), electronic medical record (EMR), and other systemsthroughout the network.
"This purchase by ISSSTE adds high performance, connected, feature-richdevices to its network," said Kurt Lemvigh, international vice president,Cardiac Science. "The scale of this delivery illustrates the internationaldemand for new generations of ECG technology and Cardiac Science's ability tomeet that demand with advanced informatics solutions."
"ISSSTE is committed to its mandate of providing high quality medicalservices to the millions of civil servants who serve Mexico's people," said DrSalvador Gonzalez Jaramillo, Jefe de Servicios de Desarrollo deInfraestructura. "We chose the Burdick(R) Atria(R) 6100 ECG system and CardiacScience because their products are durable and we are enthusiastic about thenew capabilities in this generation of ECGs. The units have 12-channelwaveform, a large color LCD, and can store up to 300 ECG records. Thecommunications features alone justified bringing the 6100 to our facilitiesnationwide -- even to replace existing older ECGs that continue to servesolidly. Plus, the machines connect us with practitioners whose only means totransmit data today is fax and modem."
All Cardiac Science electrocardiographs can be integrated usingHeartCentrix, the Cardiac Science cardiac informatics system, to connect withHIS, EMR, and other systems. The ECG devices all include options for Wi-Fi,wired Ethernet, wireless 802.11 communications, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado(ISSSTE) is the Mexican federal government agency responsible for providinghealth care benefits to more than 10 million civil servants.
