Health care innovator Lynn Barr, MPH was recognized as one of Berkeley School of Public Health's 75 most influential alumni on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Ms. Barr, who received her Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011, was presented with the award during the School of Public Health's 75th Anniversary celebration.

Ms. Barr, who received her Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011, was presented with the award during the School of Public Health's 75th Anniversary celebration. Spanning a career in health care over thirty years, Ms. Barr was recognized for her outstanding contributions and achievements to the public health community.

Ms. Barr is a respected leader in health care and has blazed a trail in the movement to transform and improve our nation's health care systems. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Caravan Health, Ms. Barr leads the development and execution of nationwide accountable care programs that has improved care for 1,000,000 Medicare patients. Through her leadership, Caravan Health has helped over 14,000 clinicians across the US build thriving population health programs since 2014.

While pursuing her Master's Degree, Ms. Barr's developed a $20 million rural hospital EHR loan program with United Health Group. This program led hundreds of California's rural hospitals through vendor acquisition to meaningful use.

The success of the program propelled Ms. Barr to form the National Rural Accountable Care Organization (NRACO) Services Corporation in 2013. The NRACO facilitated hundreds of rural health systems in improving patient care, lowering costs, and increasing savings by entering into Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations. Through this work, the NRACO facilitated a $46 million ACO Investment fund to support ACO operations and local care coordination programs.

Ms. Barr, along with the NRACO's key stakeholders, also formed the National Rural Accountable Care Consortium. Funded by a $31 million cooperative agreement award from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, the Consortium currently supports hundreds of rural health systems transform their care delivery on their journey toward accountable care.
