"Virtual tumour software .. starting to catch cancer world's attention"

OXFORD, England, Jan. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- An article published on the Daily Mail newspaper's website last week highlighted a number of recent successes for the UK cancer modelling company Physiomics and its Virtual Tumour technology. The following is taken directly from the article:

"Physiomics' cutting edge technology is starting to catch the attention of the world of oncology. The AIM company owns a virtual tumour software which is used to predict the effect of cancer drugs that in turn helps improve R&D success rates.

Only a few days in to 2019 and it has already signed another strategic collaboration, this time with the Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC) – a UK organisation charged with supporting innovation in the drugs sector. As part of the tie-up, MDC will introduce the company to 'selected potential clients' which, if all goes as planned, could lead to some new contract wins.

City research house Hybridan approved: it said the agreement would give Physiomics 'another excellent arena' to showcase its technology and builds on the lucrative contract it signed with long-term partner Merck Group in December.

To clarify, this is not the US pharma supermajor Merck & Co., but its – now smaller - former German parent also known as Merck Serono. This latest agreement, which is worth £435,000, is an extension of a long-standing partnership, with the pair having agreed a similar deal last year.

Not only does it generate a significant amount of revenue, but interestingly Merck Serono also allowed its name to be linked with the contract. In the secretive world of pharma/biotech drug development that is unusual says Jim Millen, Physiomics' chief executive, who sees it as a clear validation of the progress made by the company since he took charge two years ago."

The article references existing Physiomics press releases including those of the 17th Dec 2018 and 3rd January 2019.
