WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Steve Brugge of San Jose, CA, the Western Region Business Development Director for CRC Health Group, the country's largest provider of substance abuse treatment, will be honored by the Johnson Institute at the National Press Club, 14th and F Streets, NW, at Noon on Thursday, September 25. The "Outstanding Individual" awards are presented to six honorees selected because they "have successfully overcome their experience with alcohol and other drug addiction, either personally, or as a family member or significant other and are making a difference in their community, their profession, and/or the recovery movement."

Christopher Kennedy Lawford will chair the awards event, the America Honors Recovery Luncheon, a highlight of National Recovery Month declared by the federal government's Department of HHS. Four-Star General Barry McCaffrey, the former U.S. Drug Czar, will speak at the luncheon.



According to a statement by the Johnson Institute, Brugge "exemplifies the philosophy that recovery can change your life. Steve has 25 years in long term recovery, and for over 20 years has worked in the field of chemical dependency as a counselor, a clinical consultant, a mentor, and in business development. He has also been successfully intervening on addicts and alcoholics for over 15 years.
