BLUEMONT, Va., Sept. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Boulder Crest, a pioneering nonprofit focused on facilitating Posttraumatic
The Institute was formed to develop, deliver, study and scale Posttraumatic Growth-based solutions to struggle – including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression and suicidality. The Institute's four areas of operation include Training, Technology, Research and Evaluation, and Social and Policy Change.
"We have worked tirelessly over the past five years to develop programs that truly work for those who are struggling with their mental health," said Josh Goldberg, co-founder and executive director of the Boulder Crest Institute. "We established the Institute to scale all that we have learned to those struggling nationally and internationally. In light of a major mental health crisis occurring across America and the globe, it comes not a moment too soon."
In addition to the Institute, Boulder Crest owns and operates Boulder Crest Retreat Virginia and Boulder Crest Retreat Arizona (the nation's first privately funded wellness centers dedicated exclusively to combat veterans and their family members, and first responders). Boulder Crest utilizes these Posttraumatic Growth Academies to pioneer a new approach to times of struggle – PATHH (Progressive and Alternative Training for Healing Heroes). PATHH is the first-ever program designed to cultivate and facilitate Posttraumatic Growth.
"It is estimated that 800 million people around the globe struggle with their mental health, and our current approach simply isn't working for far too many of them," said Ken Falke, chairman and founder of Boulder Crest. "We need to scale innovative and effective approaches that inspire hope, strength and Posttraumatic Growth – and that is why we are launching the Boulder Crest Institute."
The Boulder Crest Institute will be chaired by Dr. Richard Tedeschi, who, along with his colleague Dr. Lawrence Calhoun, coined the term Posttraumatic Growth more than 30 years ago. Tedeschi and Calhoun went on to develop the conceptual framework that has guided Posttraumatic Growth research, and there are now hundreds of books, articles and publications to support the science.
"What Boulder Crest has done with the work that Lawrence Calhoun and I pioneered 30 years ago is nothing short of remarkable," Dr. Richard Tedeschi said. "It is humbling and inspiring to serve as the Distinguished Chair of the Boulder Crest Institute, and I look forward to our efforts to continue advancing the science of Posttraumatic Growth and helping those who struggle in the aftermath of trauma."
The Boulder Crest Institute is led by Josh Goldberg, who has served as the director of strategy for Boulder Crest since 2014, co-wrote Struggle Well with Ken Falke and led the development of the Warrior PATHH curriculum project. Josh is joined on the leadership team by Greg Morin, the Institute's director of training, who previously served as the director of programs at Boulder Crest Retreat Virginia.
The Institute is supported by the Boulder Crest Wellness Advisory Committee, which features world-class advisors on topics of relevance to personal success and Posttraumatic Growth.
