IRVINE, Calif., May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Biggest Loser contestants Courtney Crozier and Irene Alvarado, in preparation for their final weigh-in and finale airing on 5/24/11, are training at world-class fat loss facility, STARK, in the heart of Orange County, California.
Through monumental emotional and physical trials over the past six months, both Courtney (a native of Indiana), and Irene (of Portland, Oregon), continue battling their bodies at STARK, fighting to get past their plateaus with the guidance of the team of Fat Loss Specialists directed by V.P. of Research and Development, Brad Davidson, Training Protocol Designer, Rolandas Mensikovas (all the way from South Africa), and Sports Injury Specialist Dr. Jason Amstutz. These young ladies continue to push themselves to reach a goal they both thought impossible less than a year ago.
To compete to win the contest that has already changed their lives forever, they're drastically altering their primary training approach from an aerobic pathway and starvation diet to an intense lactate pathway—and much higher caloric intake—in hopes of moving to a new level of fat loss. Mentored by Charles Poliquin of Rhode Island, a world-renowned leader in strength training and fat loss, Davidson and team are pulling out all of the stops to help heal these two contestants from the metabolic damage caused by their previous diets, by employing detoxifying methods and a training intensity, according to Davidson, that "would have crushed any one of our elite athletes." Although the training is intense, the approach is scientific. The results achieved over these past few weeks have been truly remarkable and represent a culmination of the decade-long STARK company value of continuing education. Studies ranging from applying the training concept of periodization, aggressive fat loss diets and how they are safely applied, as well as the hormonal impact of training, diet and supplementation are all being applied, right now.
STARK is housing, feeding, and training Crozier and Alvarado, as well as providing various recovery techniques through Reiki treatments by Patty Pinto, massage, and Yoga sponsored by local studio, Ra Yoga. "Recovery is critical," according to Davidson. On a strict diet of vegetables, nuts and high-quality protein supplied by local butcher, The Meat House, these new guests of STARK are living on very simple—but gourmet—Paleo fare. "This is not your typical low-fat, low-calorie diet for weight loss; this is the opposite," said Davidson.
Although it's impressive to see some of the "best-in-class" professionals in the world get behind these two, helping them shock spectators across the globe with their results, the most awe-inspiring factors in this battle are their work ethic and determination. Their will power is almost palpable. It's no wonder they're an inspiration to so many.
STARK is hosting a media open house on June 1, 2011 with both Alvarado and Crozier present, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, open to the public immediately following. For more information please visit http://www.StarkTraining.com.
