The company awarded scholarships to three inspiring students who perform volunteer work supporting the elderly.
The 1st Place $2,500 scholarship was awarded to Michaela Ricker, who is currently attending the University of Rochester and majoring in Brain and Cognitive Science.
The 2nd Place $2,000 scholarship was awarded to Elisabeth Pitrolo. Elisabeth is a senior at Martin L. Nesbitt Discovery Academy in Asheville, NC. She plans to major in pre-med to pursue a career in Neurology and has applied to several universities.
The 3rd Place $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Hannah Rogers. Hannah a senior at American Fork High School and is planning to attend Utah State University or Brigham Young University.
The winners were chosen from more than 300 entries into the Bay Alarm Medical scholarship essay contest. Students were asked to submit essays describing how working with seniors has impacted their lives and taught them valuable life lessons.
"This was our fourth scholarship essay contest, and part of our on-going effort to encourage young people to support seniors" says Alan Wu, Marketing Director of Bay Alarm Medical.
Wu says that the three scholarship winners wrote essays that best demonstrated a commitment to helping the elderly and shared how this has shaped the student's life.
The essay contest was open to any graduating high school senior or college student enrolled in an undergraduate program for the 2018-2019 school year. Students were required to be involved in community service working with the elderly or to participate in caregiving duties for an elderly relative living in their home.
