COSTA MESA, Calif., Feb. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Asana Recovery is accepting applications from college-bound or current college students for its new healthcare scholarship. Open to students who choose to pursue a medical-related course of study in California, the $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who can best describe their passion for substance abuse disorder and mental health treatment, and how it has led them to their chosen field of study. Applications for the Asana Recovery Healthcare Scholarship will be accepted until August 1, 2019.
Scholarship applications will be accepted online at http://www.asanarecovery.com/scholarship. Students are required to submit a short, 500-word essay describing their experience or passion for substance abuse and mental health treatment, and how it has influenced their studies and their aspirations for a career in the field. Essays may be written from the perspective of personal experience or a focus on their choice to pursue medical-related studies that have an emphasis on behavioral or mental health treatment.
Applicants may write their essay based on their own compelling recovery story or that of a loved one, friend, or someone that has inspired or made a difference in their life. Whatever the applicant's experience may be in dealing with substance abuse or mental health, they are encouraged to describe how it has affected their desire to enter their field of study.
The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a healthcare related, four-year degree program from an accredited college or university. Areas of study that will be considered may include: counseling, social work, pre-med (with the intention to enter a program in emergency medicine, psychiatry, or other addiction or substance-abuse related specialty), nursing, and psychology. Other areas of health-related study will be considered, with an explanation of how it relates to addiction, substance abuse, or mental health treatment.
Applicants must be 18 years or older, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and hold a minimum GPA of 3.5. Other requirements for the scholarship application are enrollment or acceptance in a health-related course of study or program from an accredited four-year college or university.
