Located at Dr. Gawley's north Scottsdale facility, Dr. Gawley and Dr. Snyder work together to perform breast reconstruction procedures for patients who have previously undergone a mastectomy.

One breast reconstruction technique they perform is the DIEP flap reconstruction technique.
The DIEP Flap Procedure
This reconstruction option uses a patient's own fat to reform the breast mound. During the procedure, skin, fat, and blood vessels are removed from the wall of the lower abdomen and moved to the chest. Blood vessels from the flap removed from this flap are then reattached to the chest using microsurgery. A DIEP flap is considered a muscle-sparing flap procedure since no muscles are cut or removed. This often allows for most patients to recover more quickly than other types of flap procedures.
