COLUMBIA, S.C., Sept. 10 MinuteClinic(http://www.minuteclinic.com), the pioneer and largest provider of retail-based health care in the United States, today opened its first clinics inSouth Carolina. The health care centers will serve patients inside threeCVS/pharmacy stores in the Columbia metropolitan area and a fourth CVSlocation in Simpsonville, in Greenville County.

MinuteClinic health care centers are staffed by masters-prepared, board-certified nurse practitioners who specialize in family health care and aretrained to diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for common family illnessessuch as strep throat and ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections.Common vaccinations such as influenza, tetanus, MMR and Hepatitis A & B arealso available. In addition, MinuteClinic administers a series of wellnessservices designed to help consumers identify lifestyle changes needed toimprove their current and future health, including screenings for cholesterol,high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity.

MinuteClinic is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be found inside the following SouthCarolina CVS/pharmacy store locations:

MinuteClinic expects to open one additional clinic in each metro areabefore the end of the year.

Because examinations typically take 10-15 minutes and no appointment isnecessary, MinuteClinic is an ideal solution for working parents who cannotafford time away from the workplace.

MinuteClinic is in-network with the following insurers for patients inSouth Carolina: Advantra Freedom, Aetna Health Plan, Assurant Health, BeechStreet Corporation, ChoiceCare Network, Cigna, Coventry Health Care, Inc.,First Health Network., Great-West Healthcare, Chesapeake Life, Mega Life, Mid-West National Life, Humana, Medicare, OneNet, ppoNext, Inc., Principal LifeInsurance Company, Private Health Care System (PHCS), United Healthcare andWellPath Select, Inc. MinuteClinic will accept as payment the office visitco-pay indicated on the patient's insurance card. For patients paying cash orcredit, treatment prices are posted outside each health care center. Mosttreatments cost $59.

To ensure quality and personal attention for patients, MinuteClinic healthcare centers are staffed by board-certified nurse practitioners with collegedegrees and graduate-level training in family health care. Nurse practitionerswork in collaboration with physicians and may prescribe medication when it ispart of the treatment plan.

MinuteClinic nurse practitioners use a software program that at theconclusion of each visit generates educational material, an invoice and aprescription (when clinically appropriate) for the patient, as well as adiagnostic record that is automatically sent to the patient's primary careprovider's office.
