American Lung Association of Iowa: Summer Camp Helps Kids With Asthma

DES MOINES, Iowa, May 30 The American Lung Association of Iowa will host a week long summer camp in Boone, Iowa from July 27th to August 2nd, 2008. The camp is open for all children with asthma from ages 7 to 14 years old.

"This is a great chance for kids with asthma to spend a week doing things all other kids can do." Says Dan Ramsey, Director of Programs for the American Lung Association, "It is a chance for kids to learn that having asthma doesn't have to hold them back from enjoying any activity"

The camp is fully staffed by respiratory therapists, doctors and nurses and includes educational sessions on proper use of medication, asthma triggers and monitoring. The cost is $150 per child.
