American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Names Dr. Wilma I. Larsen an Associate Executive Director

DALLAS, Nov. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) Board of Directors has named

Wilma I. Larsen, MD, as an Associate Executive Director beginning March 1, 2017.  In this new role, she will focus on directing the certification and Maintenance of Certification examinations
and assessment processes.

Dr. Larsen is currently the Vice Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor Scott and White Health in Temple, Texas.  She also is an Associate Professor and the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) fellowship program director in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Texas A & M Health Sciences Center College of Medicine.

Dr. Larsen is board certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both general Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.  She is also a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). 

About Dr. Larsen

Dr. Larsen is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point in New York.  She completed her medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of The Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD and her residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA.  Dr. Larsen has been the recipient of the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal and numerous other awards for her military service.

Dr. Larsen has served as the Consultant to the Surgeon General of the Army for Women's Health as well as the Department Chair of Tripler Army Medical Center.  She has served on numerous committees for the ACOG and currently sits on their Executive Board as a Fellow-at-Large.  

She has a specific interest in Quality and is the Principal Investigator at Baylor Scott and White for the American Urogynecologic Society Quality Improvement and Outcomes Research Network.  Dr. Larsen is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, the American Urogynecologic Society and the International Urogynecological Association.

She serves as an examiner in both the general OB GYN and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery oral certification examinations.
