AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Jason Katzenback (Amazing.com CEO and Co-Founder) and his wife, Charlene Katzenback, recently held a luminary ceremony in remembrance of their daughter and more than 420 children who lost their lives to cancer. September marks National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month as well as the sixth month anniversary of Charlene and Jason losing their own daughter to the disease. In addition to the luminaries adorned with the names of children who died battling cancer, the Katzenbacks asked family and friends to help them raise money to support childhood cancer research. They hope to bring awareness and support for the families and children who face hardship because of the life-threatening disease.

The luminary ceremony took place in the Katzenback's front yard. Throughout their grass were over 420 luminaries with the names of children that have passed due to cancer. Jason's goal through the ceremony was to bring awareness of the low percentage of government funding that goes towards research and finding a cure for childhood cancer. In a Facebook live video the day of the luminary lighting, Jason Katzenback shared, "Our children are 23% of the population, yet funding to research for cancer of children is 4%."

For Jason and Charlene's birthdays, they asked their friends and family to donate to the Ewing's Sarcoma Research Foundation. The non-profit aims to find a cure for Ewing's Sarcoma, the rare childhood cancer their late daughter battled. The couple was able to raise over $7,400 for the foundation through Facebook donations. When Gayle, their daughter, was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, the family was told there is no treatment for the disease. With the funds the couple raised on their birthdays, they are one step closer to ensuring no family hears those words again.

Jason Katzenback continued, "Tonight is also celebration of my daughter who I adore, who left us six months ago. She left an imprint on my heart and I will fight to the end to prove her cause and to help this world get rid of cancer. I thank you for all the support. I thank you for supporting my birthday fundraiser where I was able to raise over $7,000 to help."

Jason and Charlene hope to inspire others to donate funds to childhood cancer research. They also hope to bring awareness to the lack of funds allocated from the government in researching a disease that so many children must battle.

Jason Katzenback concluded, "When you see a donation needed for childhood cancer research put your heart towards it a little bit more, the children need it. I'll tell you the worst thing I've ever experienced was losing my daughter. It's horrible and yet there is hope because all of us are working together to raise awareness."
