SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 7 Agito Networks, Inc., the company delivering innovative solutions in enterprise mobility, and Rivada Networks, a leading designer, integrator and operator of wireless interoperable public safety communications networks, today announced that their joint communications solution, Interoperable Communications Extension (ICE24), has been selected to aid in emergency response support for Homeland Security and Homeland Defense missions.

The first-of-its-kind voice, video and data solution, ICE24 is a fully interoperable, mobile deployable first responder communications solution enabling on-demand 24 x 7 establishment of interoperable communications at an incident site using voice over IP (VoIP) technologies. The solution is secure, resilient, turnkey, and deployable - and eliminates geography, terrain and vulnerable fixed infrastructure as barriers to communications.

ICE24 kits, delivered by Rivada and powered by Agito's award-winning RoamAnywhere Mobility Router for reliable high-quality VoIP, contain dual-mode (WiFi/Cellular) mobile devices, such as the Palm Treo Pro; WiFi access points for secure wireless communications; and a satellite dish for backhaul connectivity for communications outside the site. This new joint ICE24 solution leverages Rivada's emergency response network Emergency Communications Partner roaming (ECProam) solution and Agito's commercial RoamAnywhere mobile convergence VoIP product.

"Our customers have a clear need for a secure communications solution that can be driven and dropped at a specific location, and set up immediately," said Rob Needham, Vice President at Rivada. "Having to wait hours or days for communications to be brought up using licensed cellular technologies puts a mission or people's lives at risk. We are teaming with Agito because they are the leader in delivering high-quality VoIP to a broad selection of mobile devices, with their industry-leading multi-network handover and rugged architecture to enable high-quality communications from the most remote environments using satellite communications."

Now, Rivada's Public Safety and Federal Emergency Response customers can instantly deploy ICE24 kits for on-demand, private communications, secured by AES technology. The mobile devices are active instantly over unlicensed WiFi, or public safety spectrum, and communicate with one another, as well as with other devices such as Land Mobile Radios, Personal Data Assistants, laptops, WiFi-enabled cellular phones, and satellite-enabled phones. The ICE24 solutions operate out of a hosted satellite teleport, and their unique architecture enables ubiquitous communication by connecting to the devices over a satellite connection.

"This solution from Rivada and Agito is truly unique in the industry, and demonstrates another application of the RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, in this case for Emergency First Responders globally," said Amit Chawla, Agito Networks' CEO. "Rivada has developed a stellar, market-leading solution powered by Agito to provide mission-critical, secured communications capabilities in disaster impacted environments. In addition, major multinational enterprises rely on Agito's RoamAnywhere Mobility solution to provide robust and proven high availability communications capabilities in their daily operations."

Agito's award-winning RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is the industry's most powerful mobile Unified Communications product, purpose built for organizations to help them mobilize enterprise voice and UC applications to increase mobile user productivity while reducing costs ( It uniquely fuses WiFi, cellular and Unified Communications with location information, improving the accessibility and responsiveness of mobile users, while drastically reducing mobile costs and improve in-building coverage. RoamAnywhere uniquely offers an FMC product with high availability, redundancy, security, enterprise scalability, and the industry's broadest IP-PBX and mobile handset support, including support for the Research In Motion (RIMŪ) BlackBerryŪ smartphone.
