Aerotel Medical Systems, a pioneer in Telemedicine solutions, has been granted INVIMA certification for the company's Digital, high-resolution ECG devices by Colombia's National Food and Drug Surveillance Institute.
The INVIMA certification clears for commercialization the entire HeartLine ECG monitoring line, including Aerotel's new HeartView P12/8Mobile 3G-transmission-enabled ECG, which enables the transmission of comprehensive ECG data from any place at any time. The recorded ECG is automatically transmitted via cellular network to a cardiac call center for immediate diagnosis by using Aerotel's HeartLine Receiving Station (HRS) or any other compatible system.
The certification was granted to Aerotel following the appointment of a renowned local medical devices distributor as part of the company's strategic plan to expand its presence in the fast-growing Latin American market. Colombia is seen by Aerotel as a highly attractive market for its innovative telecardiology solutions.
According to a 2014 Colombian Ministry of Health Report, cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death responsible for one out of every three deaths.
Colombia, alongside Mexico, Peru and Brazil, is considered a regional pioneer in the implementation of eHealth projects. The number of Colombian health service providers that offered telecardiology surpassed 600 by the end of 2015.
