ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 26 Acuo Technologies, a marketleading provider of comprehensive software solutions to the medical imagingindustry for archiving, collaboration and migration services, is pleased toannounce a fully integrated Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing for Imaging(XDS-I) solution
One of the most important trends in healthcare today is the need to shareclinical content. Healthcare IT solutions today must further demonstrateagility in dealing with a massive amount of clinical content (growingexponentially), integration of that content across the enterprise and beyond.Healthcare enterprises are demanding standard based solutions for managing andsharing content while increasing the availability of the data and removingdownstream migration requirements.
Current healthcare IT solutions typically continue to offer non standardapproaches to managing clinical content. Clinical content is often locked upinside proprietary databases, storage systems, or other vendor technologyrequiring costly point-to-point interfaces to be created each time contentneeds to be shared or aggregated across the enterprise or outside of theenterprise (such as in a RHIO). Further, medical imaging has the samechallenges but also a protocol (DICOM) which is difficult to extend acrossinstitutional boundaries.
Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) -- enables a number of healthcaredelivery organizations belonging to a clinical affinity domain (e.g. acommunity of care) to cooperate in the care of a patient by sharing clinicalrecords in the form of documents and images as they proceed with theirpatients' care delivery activities.
End to End Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS/XDS-I) -- IHE's ITInfrastructure Technical Framework offers the XDS integration profile, including XDS-I for medical imaging, which provides solutions to the problemsof sharing clinical content across multiple applications and institutionalboundaries.
Acuo's forthcoming release offers full support for XDS-I, if you areinterested in how to share clinical records in the form of documents andimages within your institution or outside the enterprise, such as a RHIO orIDN, then Acuo Technologies has the solution for you using XDS. "I am veryexcited about Acuo pioneering the XDS initiative.
