VISTA, Calif., April 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As part of ASTROGLIDE's efforts to close the orgasm gap, the personal lubricant company asked 2,391 women and 1,951 men a couple of simple questions: what could your partner do to help you reach orgasm? Is there something you wish they knew? The anonymous, short-answer responses collected from the ongoing #OwnYourO survey highlight a serious communication gap between men and women in the bedroom.
Women surveyed frequently pointed to wishing their partner was more aware of their needs in the bedroom. Interestingly enough, men commonly expressed a desire to better please their partner. A number of men said their partners could help them reach orgasm by being more confident.
"75% of women ASTROGLIDE surveyed admitted to having faked an orgasm during intercourse with a partner," says Dr. Jess O'Reilly, ASTROGLIDE's resident sexologist. "Through these surveys, we've gained some insight as to why women fake orgasms and what their partners can do to bring them more pleasure. Step one is to stop faking it, and start talking about what you need."

Common responses among women surveyed were that their partners could help them reach orgasm with more foreplay, patience, time, persistence or by going slow. By contrast, only about a quarter as many men had similar responses.
For many respondents, physical pleasure extends beyond touch — and at a higher rate for women than men. Many of the women surveyed reported that they wish their partners would communicate more, be more knowledgeable about their needs, ask what they want or simply connect more on a non-physical level. Fewer men responded similarly, illustrating an interesting gap in what women versus men need to reach orgasm.
Unsurprisingly, one of the more common responses from women involved wishing their partner would pay more attention to the clitoris — several women specifically mentioned that penetration alone does not bring them to orgasm (this corresponds with ASTROGLIDE's recent survey, which found 19% of women have never orgasmed from intercourse with a partner). Bringing toys, specifically vibrators, into the mix was also a common response from the women surveyed.
Male respondents were almost twice as likely as their female counterparts to call out dirty talk, rough sex, kinky sex, role playing and experimenting as ways their partner could better help them achieve orgasm. Not surprisingly, oral sex was common on the wish list for both men and women surveyed.
For many respondents, "more lube" topped the list of what their partner could do to help them reach orgasm — at almost an equal rate for both men and women.
"This makes sense, as studies have shown that increased lubrication can help women experience more pleasure and satisfaction in bed," says Dr. Angela Jones, a board certified OBGYN and ASTROGLIDE's Resident Health Advisor. The best news from the survey: the most common response for both women and men was "nothing," indicating that their partner is doing all the right things in the bedroom.
