ASP Launches STERRAD(R) Sterility Guide - Eliminating Paperwork and Ensuring Compliance

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 3 Advanced Sterilization Products(ASP), division of Ethicon Inc., is pleased to unveil a new global initiativethat will support the needs of healthcare professionals who are faced withinfection prevention concerns. The STERRAD(R) Sterility Guide, afirst-of-its-kind online tool, is designed to help healthcare professionalsaround the world quickly, easily and accurately determine which instrumentscan be sterilized in STERRAD(R) Systems.

As more and more medical devices come to market and infection controlstandards are monitored by industry groups, there is an acute need to provideaccurate and up-to-date guidance to hospital staff on which devices can besterilized in STERRAD(R) Systems. To fulfill this unmet need and demonstrateits commitment to following the Association for the Advancement of MedicalInstrumentation (AAMI) and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses(AORN) Standards and Recommended Practices, ASP took the lead and developedthe STERRAD(R) Sterility Guide.

"Now, with the STERRAD(R) Sterility Guide,STERRAD(R) System customers can simply visit the STERRAD(R) Web site at theirconvenience in order to receive a timely and accurate answer -- it's so easyand the results are current."

By following a few simple steps on the new, easy-to-use Web site,, STERRAD(R) System customers can immediatelyobtain confirmation 24 hours a day, seven days a week as to whether a devicecan be sterilized in a STERRAD(R) System. All devices listed on the STERRAD(R)Sterility Guide have been approved for use in a STERRAD(R) System by theappropriate medical device manufacturer. And because ASP has partnered withmedical device manufacturers around the world, new devices will be added on aregular basis.
